He was predeceased by: his parents, Mattie Jo Willis and Pharaoh Willis; and his sister Judy Carol Willis. He is survived by: his wife Nancy Willis; his daughter Megan Ponder; his son-in-law Travis Ponder; his grandchildren, Shelby and Mason Ponder; and his brother Buddie Joe Willis. He is also survived by many cousins and countless friends.

Visitation was held on Thursday, February 27th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home (6900 Lawndale St, Houston, TX 77023). A funeral service was held on Friday, February 28th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location. A committal service was held on Friday, February 28th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the same location.
