It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Maurine Posey Bryant (Paris, Texas), who passed away on January 25, 2025, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Willie D. Posey and Cora Spears Posey; her husband Melvin Ray Bryant; her siblings, George, Billy, Virene and Betty; and her son-in-law Jeffrey Smallwood.
She is survived by: her daughters, Anita (Ricky Mabb), Shari (Bobby Fortner) and Patti (Chris Griffith); her grandchildren, Corey Hicks (Kristen), Erica Smith (Jamie), Aaron Mabb (Olivia), Shelbi Mabb-Cluck (Rob), Toni Jackson (Eldon), Bryant Fortner (Lauren), Chase Smallwood (Brittany), Cole Smallwood (Alicia), Dillon Smallwood (Becca Paulson), Tyler Griffith and Harley Griffith; and her sister-in-law Mary Ballard. She is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, January 28th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church (3509 County Rd 4260, Mt Pleasant, TX 75455). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, January 28th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Tuesday, January 28th 2025 at 3:30 PM at the Union Grove Cemetery.
