He was predeceased by: his parents, Mom (America) and Blue Bell. He is survived by: his wife Denise Schmandt-Besserat; his children, Alexandre Schmandt (Mary Moynihan) of Chevy Chase, Christophe Schmandt (Kathrin Wolff) of Zurich and Phillip Schmandt (Kellie Goolsby) of Austin; and his grandchildren, Nicolaus, Danielle, Mike, Henry, Lily, Cyra and Dennis.

Our parents' personal contributions towards Franco-German rapprochement appears to have progressed rapidly.
