He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Chester Permenter and Marietta Haight Permenter; his wife Dorothy Jo Permenter; his son Dennis Ray Permenter; and his sisters, Lillie Carrington and Margie Chappell.
He is survived by: his children, Pam Works (Dewey "Squeaky") of Carthage and Carl Permenter (Melody) of Midlothian; his sister Jerry Parsons; his brother-in-law Glenn Chappell; his grandchildren, Waylon Yount, Shanna Heard and ReBecca Woo (Yoong); his great grandchild Mirabelle Woo; and his extended family Alisha Norris (family: Joyce Morris, Johanna Hodges, Jackie Rogers, Mandy McCall, Angie O'Brien).
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Panola County Cancer Coalition.
