John left this world on October 12, 2024 at the age of 81, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. He was predeceased by: his parents, Jack Shackelford and Odessa Shackelford; and his stepfather Gerald Adamson. He is survived by: his wife Jowannah McDowell; his children, L. Beth Shackelford of Pampa and Sammy Shackelford (Leslie) of Pampa; his grandson Johnathen Shackelford of Pampa; his brother Jim Borger of Lafayette, Louisianna; and his pet Dixie. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
