He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Yates and Pearlie Yates; his daughter Elizabeth Pickney; and his siblings, Freda Spalding, Nova Pearl Wilbur, Goldie Ann Yates, Billy Yates, D'estin Yates, Robert Ross Yates, Calvin Yates and Ronald Yates.
He is survived by: his wife Henrietta Velasquez; his children, Anna Villareal of Pampa, Diana Martinez (Brig) of Pampa, Michael Yates of Pampa, Robin Yates (Leslie) of Bellingham and Rodney Yates of San Antonio; his grandchildren, Maddie, Angelina, Hannah, Damian, Nicholas, Michael Ryan, Brandon and Bryan; and his siblings, Mary Jo Sodoquist, Dolores Morgan, Patricia Durant, Judith Caroline Grismore, Kent Yates, Dougie Yates and James Burton Yates. He is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren.
