Eddie John Simien Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Eddie (PaPa) John Simien, a devoted servant of God, loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who left this world peacefully at the age of 96. Eddie went to be with his Heavenly Father on September 11, 2024. He was born on August 23, 1928 in Oklahoma, then moving to Texas in adulthood where he and wife, Dolena Simien, started their family. He lived a life rich in faith and dedication, embodying the values he cherished throughout his years.
Eddie spent his professional life as a skilled mechanic, known for his unwavering work ethic and commitment to his excellence for his customers. His hands, calloused from years of labor, were a testament to his dedication not only to his craft but also to providing for his beloved family.
As a devoted husband to Dolena, he exemplified the true meaning of partnership, sharing a bond that inspired all who knew them. Together, they raised a beautiful family, and he took immense pride in being a father to Joseph (Lil Joe) Simien of Palestine, TX Larry Simien (Deceased) and Tammy Luce of Palestine, TX. His legacy lives on through his surviving children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, whom he cherished deeply. God allowed Eddie to have 14 of his great grandchildren and 3 of his great great grandchildren sit on his lap (and quite possibly sip black coffee with him), "PaPa" LOVED his babies! He also raised as his own, granddaughter's Telisa (Simien) Killion and April (Simien) Allen, grandson Jonathan Simien and great granddaughter Kelcey Piper.
Though a man of few words, he had a profound impact on those around him. His wisdom shone through when he spoke, offering guidance and love to his family and friends. He was a gentle soul who loved to hunt and fish, spending many joyful hours in nature, which brought him peace and fulfillment.
Eddie will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his quiet strength, and the love he shared with his family and community. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and devotion that will continue to inspire all of us.
A celebration of his life will be held at Bailey & Foster Funeral Chapel, Palestine at 3:00pm on Saturday, September 14, 2024 with Pastor Bubba Ellis officiating. Visitation will be held before the service at 2:00pm. Graveside services will be held immediately following at Roselawn Park Cemetery, Palestine.
Rest in peace, Eddie, embracing your wife, son, and Heavenly Father! You will be missed but never forgotten. Your spirit lives on in the hearts of all who loved you.
