He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Isbell and Minnie Louise Isbell; and his brothers, Jerry Isbell and Bill Isbell. He is survived by: his wife Rita Annette Isbell; his son James Robert Isbell (Monica) of Abilene, Texas; his siblings, Betty Walters of Lubbock, Texas, Ernest Isbell (Linda) of Highland Village, Terry Isbell (Carol) of California and Shelby Isbell; and his sister-in-law Earlene Isbell of Abernathy, Texas. He is also survived by three grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
