He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Vargas and Maria Vargas; his uncle Pete Vargas; and his brother Sammy Vargas Jr.. He is survived by: his son Shawn Hodges (Stephani); his grandson Brock Hodges; his siblings, Imelda Robledo (Armando), Melissa De La Garza (Paul), Marisa Salazar Irma Vargas (Gonzalo), Hilda Martinez (John), Larry Martinez (Mary) and Ray Vargas; his uncle Pancho Vargas (Manuela); and his aunts, Rafela Perez, Alma Longoria Mickey Arredondo (Gabriel Sr.), Alda De Hoyos (Thomas) and Phyliss Vargas.
