He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard Tillis and Dolrene Tillis (Brown) of Marshall, Texas.; his wife Sandra Rivers; his stepson Jerel Avery; his siblings, Otis Tillis, Nelson Tillis and Rosie Hubbard; and his niece Crystal Payne.
He is survived by: his daughters, Rhonda Jones of Forney, Texas and Ashia Tillis (Jesse) of Houston, Texas; his brothers, Ardis Tillis (Annette) of Omaha and Audray Tillis (Thelma) of Marshall, Texas; and his niece Debra Martin (Glen) of Marshall. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
