He was predeceased by: his wife Truella Johnson; his parents, Pompie Johnson and Louisa Johnson; and his siblings, Bertha Evans, Dorothy Hill, Pauline Roberson, Priella McGary, Ruby Rhymes, Alvin Johnson, Sr., Earnest Johnson and Ervin Johnson.
He is survived by: his sons, Charles Johnson (Doris), Loyd Johnson (Janice), Eddie Johnson and Steve Johnson (Mattie); and his stepson James Rivers (Ruthie). He is also survived by grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The lying in state was held on Friday, December 20th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Reeder-Davis Funeral Home - Hughes Springs (1213 Hanes Blvd, Hughes Springs, TX 75656). A funeral service was held on Saturday, December 21st 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Williams Chapel Baptist Church (412 W WL Doc Dodson, Naples, Texas).
