He was predeceased by: his parents, William McElhaney and Lorena McElhaney; his siblings, Lee McElhaney, Luke McElhaney, Patsy Hallonquist and Molly McElhaney; and his nephew Jackie McElhaney.
He is survived by: his former wife Mildred Bridgeman; his wife Patricia McElhaney of Omaha; his children, Donald Ray McElhaney, Jr. (Rhonda) of Mount Vernon, Robert Leonard "Len" McElhaney (Alice) of Pittsburg, Debra Ruth "Debbie" Patterson of Pittsburg, Pamela Jane "Pam" Wallace (Gary Owens) and Danielle Mitchell (Michael) of Prosper; his brothers, James McElhaney (Cammie) and Olen McElhaney (Shirley); and his grandchildren, Ray McElhaney, III, Jason Patterson, Jarrod McElhaney, Kelli Patterson, Joshua McElhaney, Jonah McElhaney, Monica Beaird, Amra White, Bobby Wallace, Jr., NaShae Tuomey, Shelby Mitchell, Justin Owens and Brenen Owens. He is also survived by twenty-nine great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
