He was predeceased by: his parents, Isidro Montanez and Natividad Montanez; and his sisters, Bertha Montanez Rodriguez and Rosa Maria Montanez Valdez. He is survived by: his wife Juanita Montanez Rangel; his children, Victor Hugo Montanez (Rosa Montanez Garcia), Angel Gonzalez Rodriguez (Vero Rodriguez) and Nathay Montanez (Alberto Ramirez); his brothers, Raul Montanez, Javier Montanez, Ernesto Montanez and Oscar Montanez; and his granddaughters, Abigail Montanez, Makayla Montanez and Bella Montanez. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.
