He was predeceased by: his sister DeeDee Rivera. He is survived by: his wife Joann Olivas; his son Gilbert-Anthony Rivera Jr. (Baby); his parents, Gilberto Esparza (LuAnn Rivera) and Olivia Esparza; and his godchildren, Baldemar Escarsega, Ethan Olivas, Jerek Martinez, Anthony Gabilondo, Milinda Mendez, Wisha Lujan, Meridian Rodriguez, Marissa Ulate, Matthew Ulate, Josie Olivas and Seleste Zambrano. He is also survived by 22 nieces and nephews, 50 great-nieces and great-nephews, and 10 great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, April 5th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM and on Sunday, April 6th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Martinez Funeral Home "west Chapel" (10137 W University Blvd, Odessa, TX 79764). A rosary was held on Sunday, April 6th 2025 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the same location. A Mass was held on Monday, April 7th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church (2633 Conover Ave, Odessa, TX 79763).
