He was predeceased by: his parents, Juan Valenzuela and Angelina Valenzuela; his wife Isabel Valenzuela; his sons, Hector Valenzuela and Santiago "Jimmy" Valenzuela; and his siblings, Juan, Ruben, Jesse Valenzuela, Viola Porras and Sylvia Jimenez.

He is survived by: his children, David Valenzuela, Jr and Jackie Lynn Hernandez; and his sister Catalina Salas of Marathon, Texas. He is also survived by eighteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
