He was predeceased by: his parents, Arch Shamblin and Ruth Day Shamblin; and his siblings, Ed Shamblin, J. W. Shamblin, Charlene Kelley and Geraldine Stokes.

He is survived by: his wife Sue Shamblin; his son David Jeffery Shamblin; and his grandchildren, Jessica Lewis, Hunter Shamblin, Nichole James and Emily Dominy. He is also survived by his five great grandchildren, and several great, great grandchildren.
