She was predeceased by: her parents, Zelmer Bell Dodson and Robert Edkar Newman; and her sister Melba Curry. She is survived by: her husband Don; her daughters, Deborah Alvarez (Javier) and Angela Bates (Rick); her sisters, Madeline Fanning and Maurine Gordon; her grandchildren, Jared Bates (Mariah), Isabel Mann (Kyah), Marissa Shier (Nic), Amanda Bates and Evelyn Alvarez; and her great grandchild Alexander Shier. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
