He was predeceased by: his parents, Estela Salinas Cortez and Carlos D. Cortez; his sister Maria Alicia Cortez; and his parents-in-law, Vidal Garcia and Amelia Rodriguez Garcia.
He is survived by: his wife Maria Sylvia Cortez; his daughters, Anna Ochoa (David), Julie Ramirez (Leonard) and Pauline Cortez; his grandchildren, Michael Cortez (Madison), Leonardo Cortez Ramirez, David Ochoa, Amanda Ramirez, Lucas Ramirez, Aaron Martinez and Zack Martinez; his great grandchild Lucille Amelia Cortez; and his siblings, Alfredo Cortez (Rosa), Carlos Cortez (Maria Elena), Alma Gloria Cortez, Oscar Cortez, Hortencia Guardado (Ramon), Dora Salinas, Diana Torrez, Susan Salas (Servero), Guadalupe Garcia (Patricia), Mario Garcia and Felix Garcia (Gail). He is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces.
