It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Margarete Joyce West of Nocona, Texas, born in Gorman, Texas, who passed away on October 30, 2020, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, D. L. Bassett and Willoughby Bassett; her husband Fred West; her grandson Luke West; her sisters, Barbara Davis, Judy Wren and Linda Kinard of Anna; her sons, Daylon West (Kim) of Graford, Rusty West and Kelly West (Kelly Jo) of Cisco; and her grandchildren, Cara Fry (Travis), R. C. West (Josie), Clayton Oliver (Kay Leigh), Chris Oliver (Kayleigh), Chelsea Bond (Weston), Katy Parsons (Joel), Kayla Whitlock (Colby), Kelsie Wagner (Aaron) and Jacob West (Nicole). She was also cherished by 18 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nocona Church of Christ Youth Fund or to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (http://www.lls.org).

“I first met Joyce in 1965 when I was 21 years old. She was only about 4 years older than I was, but I was in awe of her from that moment on. She was everything I was not: outgoing, funny, tall, (anyone who is taller than 5’2” is tall in my eyes), slim, fearless (except for cats) and she had beautiful hair. I never changed my mind about her. I admired her so much. We had so many adventures together, most were funny to hilarious. My life was greatly enriched by my friendship with Joyce. I”
