He was predeceased by: his parents, Benjamin Franklin Wells and Minnie Lovell Wells; his son Dale Leaman; and his brothers, Frank Jr. and Ora Leaman.

He is survived by: his sister Ola B Wells Faus (Ben); and his children, LaRetta Wells Stevens (Leon), Renee Wells and Billy Wells. He is also survived by Five Grandchildren, several great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
