He was predeceased by: his parents, Emery Gary and Zera Gary. He is survived by: his wife Reba Stringer Gary; his sister Louise Gary White of Lufkin, TX.; his children, Stephanie Northrop (Tom) of Baton Rouge, LA, Kellie Sims (Ronnie) of Kirbyville, TX and Robert Gary Jr. (Bob) of Jasper, TX.; and his grandchildren, Justin Northrop (Amy), Taylor Sims (Sunee), Tanner Sims, Rebekah Northrop and Kiley Gary.

Funerals are currently a public event being held during the national response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
