She was predeceased by: her parents, Sherman Steel and Jewel Bernice Steel (Johnson); her stepfather Jessie Brown; her daughter Lisa Payne; her grandchildren, Kelsey and Kayla Payne; and her siblings, Charles Steel, Violet Sherbert, Winnie McGuire, Rathine Moore and Charolette Steel.
She is survived by: her husband Jimmy Payne; her children, Eddie Payne of Greenville and Tambra Nash (Dennis) of Newark; her grandchildren, Michael Calvert, James Benthall, Tara Benthall, Amanda Villegas, Jade Payne and Brook Elliott; and her siblings, Roy Steel (Pat) of Paradise and Connie Fretwell (Wendell) of Canton.
