He was predeceased by: his parents, Eddie Leon and Anna Bell Sheppard (Fitzgerald); his wife Berneice Sheppard; and his siblings, Eddie Leon Jr., Gerald, Homer (Red), Claud Herman, Wallace Nelson and Sybil Phostine.
He is survived by: his daughters, Glenda Myer (Jeanne) of Vancouver Washington and Sarrah Piper (Olon) of Newark; his grandchildren, Frank Piper (Ashley) and Kathy Matlock (Jayce); and his great grandchildren, Avery, Cooper and Tate.
