He was predeceased by: his parents, James Valentine and Eva Sowers Scott; and his siblings, James, Elinor and George.
He is survived by: his wife Carole Bell; his former wife Nancy Berry; his children, Terrie, Mark (Tammy), Richard Jr. (Elsa), Gregg, Kimberly (Nancy), Andrea (Shad) and Melissa; and his stepchildren, Liberty (Colleen) and Crystal (Pierre). He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
