He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe G. Hughes and Daphne May Knight; and his stepchildren, Douglas A. Dickerson and Angela C. Dickerson. He is survived by: his wife Virginia Keys Hughes; his stepson Jeffrey S. Dickerson (Julie); his grandchildren, Ben Harper Dickerson and Georgia Claire Nickel; and his siblings, Jody Hughes Hodges (Ronnie), Allison Hughes (Orlando Canelones), Bernard Hughes and Mark Hughes. He is also survived by six nieces and nephews.
