He was predeceased by: his wife Bernice; his parents, Leslie Hartfiel and Matilda Hartfiel; and his siblings, Raymond, Herbert Hartfiel and Magnolia Kramer.
He is survived by: his son Darrel Hartfiel (Carrie); his grandchildren, Kristin Sophie (John) and Dustin Hartfiel; his great grandchildren, Shelby and Jack Sophie; and his sister Bernice Miller. He is also survived by extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Immanuel Evangelical Church in Needville.
