He was predeceased by: his parents, Teofilo Mendoza and Guadalupe Mendoza; and his parents-in-law, Raphael Gonzales and Marina Gonzales. He is survived by: his wife Flora G. Mendoza; and his children, Joe Mendoza, Jr., Steve Mendoza, Sr. and Maryann Martinez. He is also survived by 13 grandkids, 22 great grandkids; 3 sisters and a brother.
