It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Laura Lena (Duke) Zito (Nederland, Texas), who passed away on July 31, 2023, at the age of 48, leaving to mourn family and friends. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 4th 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Levingston Funeral Home (2001 Nall Street, Port Neches, Texas 77651). A burial will be held on Saturday, August 5th 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Oak Bluff Memorial Park (618 Block Street, Port Neches, Texas 77651).

Laura Duke Zito, a retired 7th Grade Maths Teacher at Nederland ISD and one of the most dynamic educators in Nederland, Texas, sadly passed away on July 31, 2023. She was a beloved wife and mother, survived by her husband Micheal Zito and their children Sophie Zito, Josie Zito, Zach Zito, and Sam Zito.

Born and raised in Nederland, Texas, Laura attended Nederland High School and earned her Bachelors in Science from Lamar University. She was highly respected for her dedication to education and had a positive impact on the lives of many students throughout her 16-year teaching career at Odom Academy in Beaumont and an additional 8 years at C.O. Wilson Middle School in Nederland.

Laura Zito's passing was announced by her husband, Micheal Zito, on social media. According to reports, she passed away peacefully in Nederland, Texas, surrounded by her loving family members at around 1 pm. Laura had been battling cancer, and despite her difficult journey, she continued to inspire others with her friendly personality and love for life.

Tributes poured in from friends and colleagues, expressing their deep sympathies and sharing fond memories of Laura Duke Zito.
