He was predeceased by: his parents, Ruth Montalvo and Mauricio Montalvo; and his siblings, Mauricio, Eloy, Frank Montalvo, Norma Maldonado, Irene and Ruth Montalvo.
He is survived by: his wife Emma Montalvo of Nederland; his children, Abel Montalvo, Jr. of Nederland, Elizabeth Sandifer (Mark) of Frisco and Debra Swaim (James) of Frisco; and his grandsons, Austin Sandifer and Joshua Swaim. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of loving relatives and friends.
