She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Theodore Lyons and Kathryn Lyons; her sister Mary Kathryn Lyons McMaster; her children, Leanne Petersen Southerland (John) and Tim Petersen (D'Ann); her husband Marvin Defauw; and her stepchildren, Denise Wilson, Terri Reese, Carol Wiggins and Larry Defauw (Trish). She was also cherished by 4 stepchildren and their children into her family.
