He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Garland, and Elizabeth Martin Garland, Sr.; and his siblings, Otha Garland, Andy Garland, Charlene Thompson, Marie Wallace, Annie Mearl Ross, Annie Pearl Thurmond, Betty Harper, Alma Kennedy, Willie Ray Garland and Alfonso Garland.
He is survived by: his children, David Garland, Reverend Ronnie Garland, Sr. (Ellery) of Temple, Dwayne Williams (Darlene) of Belton, Eddie Chestnut of Houston, Willie Burleson of Killeen, Texas, Tonie Garland of San Antonio and Rita Chestnut of Houston, Texas; his siblings, Melvin Garland of Kilgore, Texas and Nelvin Garland of Fort Worth, Texas; and his close friend Larry Simpson of Temple, Texas. He is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
