She was predeceased by: her parents, Wesley Allen Thomas and Katherine Mae Griffith; her children, Ron Rumsey, John Bryan Rumsey and Linda Tullis; and her siblings, Sonny Thomas and Janie Bowers.

She is survived by: her husband Wayne Rumsey of Naples; her children, Jerry (Lisa Rumsey), Mark Rumsey of Los Angeles, California and Pam; her son-in-law Bill Kerekesh of Boise, Idaho; and her brothers, Richard (Sophie Bowers) and John Bill (Linda Bowers). She is also survived by eleven grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Concord Missionary Baptist Church.
