He was predeceased by: his parents, Dr. Robert Aaron Smith and Susan Sharp Smith; his brother Slaton Sharp Smith; and his brother-in-law Jeffrey Paul Kendrick. He is survived by: his wife Marcie; his sons, Ben Smith and Andrew Smith of College Station, Texas; his stepmother Vida Smith Raney; his nieces and nephews, Gunnar Smith, Jake Smith and Gus Smith; his mother-in-law Delores Sutton Jenkins (Losie); his sister-in-law Kalin Anderson Kendrick of Nacogdoches; his sons, Will Kendrick (Anna) of Nacogdoches and Luke Kendrick of Ft. Worth; and his stepsiblings, Paul Vacula (Susan) of Lufkin, Kurt (Tanya) of Austin and Cassey Scales of Plano.
