He was predeceased by: his parents, Clara Maxine Pool and Mason Oliver Sutton (Bill); his child Thomas Mason Sutton (Tommy); and the parents of child, Bill and Clara.
He is survived by: his wife Beverly Thomas; his sister Delores; his children, John Oliver Sutton Jr. (Amy), Susan Sutton Cox (Marcus) and James Neal Sutton (Cindy); his grandchildren, Katherine Davis (Matthew), James Sutton (Hannah), Rebekah Smith (Luke), Anna Gates, Brooks Sutton and Millie Sutton; his great grandchildren, Parker and Graham Davis; and his nieces, Kalin Kendrick and Marcie Smith.
Visitation was held on Saturday, December 21st 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Stewart Family Funeral Home (7525 Old Jacksonville Hwy, Tyler, TX 75703). A graveside service was held on Saturday, December 21st 2024 at 1:30 PM at the Pines Cemetery (7825 S Broadway Ave, Tyler, TX 75703).
Donations in memory of John can be made out to Stephen F. Austin State University with the designation Arthur Temple College of Forestry and Agriculture, P.O. Box 6092, Nacogdoches, Texas 75962 for the purpose of funding a forestry scholarship.
