It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of James E. Newberry (Nacogdoches, Texas), who passed away on October 25, 2023, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Vaughn Newberry and Hattie Mae Newberry; his siblings, Charles Newberry, Leah Faye Lyon and Jackie Hedgspeth Duggins; and his granddaughter Elaena Fanese Swanton.

He is survived by: his wife Billie Jean; and his children, Sherry Coward, Terry Fortenberry (Buddy) and James Brent Newberry (Kay). He is also survived by eight grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, along with nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Memorials may be made to Samaritan's Purse or to Gideons.
