He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Willie Lewis and Zeffa Shafer (Stevenson); his wife Wanda Jean Whitmire; his daughters, Ellen Mardis (Mark) of Burnet and Linda Rhoads (Jeff) of Lafayette, Louisiana; his daughter-in-law Sherrie Shafer of Lubbock, Texas; and his grandchildren, Sarah Scott (Adam), Amy Mardis, Chase Madis (Emily), Joshua Rhoads (Shannon), Jenna Compton (Caswell), Annie Matthews (Jimmy) and Emily Shafer. He was also cherished by his eight great-grandchildren.
