He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert "Cleo" and Linnie "Pete" Smith; and his siblings, Fransis, Patsy, Leeann and Sammy.
He is survived by: his close friend Deborah Baldwin of Mount Vernon, TX; his children, Jeremy Smith (Leah) of Blossom, TX, Chris Smith of Paris, TX, Cheyenne Palermo (Andrew) of Forest Hill, LA, Dakota Smith of Pollock, LA, Sierra Johnson (Hobie) of Pollock, LA and Georgette Vance (Colton) of Whitehouse, TX; and his sisters, Sheila Hodge (Milton) of Mount Pleasant, TX and Vicki Bratcher (Tony) of Georgetown, SC. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and other extended family.
