He was predeceased by: his parents, Colquitte Austin Swinford (C. A.) and Gladys Mae Swinford of Mt. Vernon; and his niece Debbie Lynn DeBusk of Mt. Vernon. He is survived by: his wife Linda Weatherford of Mt. Vernon; his children, Holly Swinford of Mesquite, Texas and Kenny Swinford of Talco, Texas; his sister Katheryn Joy DeBusk (John DeBusk Jr.) of Mt. Vernon; his nephew John J. DeBusk (Geralyn Maher DeBusk) of Sulphur Springs; his siblings-in-law, Jean Teague, Elaine, Zack Adams, Betty, Glen Zachary, Lex Weatherford, Ricky and Judy Weatherford; his parents-in-law, H. H. and Mary Lou Weatherford; and his siblings-in-law, Martha Newsome, Frankie Newsome, Grady Teague and Rex Weatherford. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In 2013, he was inducted into the Franklin County Schools' League of Honor, which each year recognizes one former student and one former employee whose lives exemplify positive accomplishments and contributions to society.
