It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joyce Barrow Merchant (Mount Pleasant, Texas), who passed away on May 19, 2023, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Franky Blackard and Joe Barrow; her husband Jimmy Merchant; her sister Peggy Jo Barrow May; her parents-in-law, Eula Shockley and Joe Merchant; her sisters-in-law, Clarissa Merchant (S. E. Cooper) and Melba (Gerald Thomas); and her nephew Russell May.
She is survived by: her daughter Jani Leigh; her son-in-law Randy Burnett of Mount Pleasant, TX; her granddaughter Jessica Lewis of Huntsville, TX; her brother-in-law Decker May; her nieces and nephews, Robin Stone (John), Erma Horne, Pat Dyke (Nick), Dan Thomas (Jeannette) and Sidney Cooper (Ginny); and her pet Marta. She is also survived by numerous cousins and friends.
