He was predeceased by: his parents, Buelah Mae Carnes (Taft) and James A. Carnes; his siblings, James Carnes, Ray Carnes, Joe Carnes, Joyce Pettigrew and Dot McFerrin; and his grandson Doyle Brooks.
He is survived by: his wife Patsy R. Carnes; his children, Deanna Ewing (Dennis) of Cuthand, TX, Cathy Cota (James) of Mt. Pleasant, TX. and Sandie Larrison of Mt. Vernon, TX.; and his grandchildren, Ellie Ewing, Makenzie Cota, Ethan Cota, Evan Cota, Dakota Sanchez, Jeffery Brooks (Stephanie) and Elizabeth Ewing. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
