He was predeceased by: his father Weldon; his brother-in-law John A. Metoskie; and his father-in-law John F. Metoskie. He is survived by: his son John Christopher Nelson; his siblings, Reve'Hockaday (Thomas) and Bill Nelson (Jane); his sister-in-law Janis Metoskie; and his nephews, Jace Hockaday (Shannon), Rance Hockaday, Jeff Nelson (Valerie), Eric Metoskie (Kwame) and Alan Metoskie.
