He was predeceased by: his parents, Edgar Janette and Mary Janette; his wives, Evyone Sargent and Linda Sandlin; his brother Rex Matthews; his daughter-in-law Kim Matthews; and his granddaughter Morgan Matthews.
He is survived by: his sons, Donald Vannoy (Van), Kevin Ray, John Mark (Elaine) and Van (Carla); his grandchildren, Evy Ronquillo (Erick), Coley Matthews and Kate; and his sisters, Judy Smith (Donny), Jeanie Willmon (Roy) and Janice Lancaster (Terry). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Evyone Matthews Nursing Scholarship at Northeast Texas Community College.
