He was predeceased by: his wife Alicia; his sons, Robert and Leopoldo; and his parents, Leopoldo Camarena and Maria Camarena.
He is survived by: his children, Maria Basaldua, Frances Leatherwood (Robert), Alice Williams (Mark) and Joe Moreno; his grandchildren, Robert Moreno Jr., Adrian Moreno, Eric Moreno, Kenneth Basaldua, Valen Workman, Seth Leatherwood, Quentin Leatherwood, Alicia Janay Williams and Brian Williams; and his siblings, Alicia Montemayor, Hortencia Sierra, Raymond Camarena and Leopoldo Camarena Jr.. He is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild.
Jose made great contributions to his communities through his organization of community dances, hosting a radio show, coaching an adult baseball team, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
