He was predeceased by: his parent Marijo Smith (Kasinger); his in-laws, Billy and Tootsie; and his sister-in-law Annette. He is survived by: his wife Denise Willis; his brother Aaron; his brother-in-law Danny; his nieces and nephews, LeAnna, Micah (Laura) and Laura (David); his grandchildren, Rowan, Maclyn, Kelsey (Tanner) and Travis (Melissa); and his great grandchildren, Carter, Chloe, Cason and Jim Ballantine.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in memory of G. Lance Smith be made to Team Crista, a charity started by former students of Denise to aid families in the local area who have children with cancer.
