He was predeceased by: his parents, John Medders and Geneva Medders. He is survived by: his wife Judy; and his daughters, Larrissa Small (Donald Small), Melissa Elliott (Shawn Elliott) and Jennie Cruz (Nephtali Cruz). He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in his name to Texas Baptist Men.
