Sally D. Leonard Obituary
Sally D. Leonard of Moran, Texas went to be with the Lord on October 29, 2023, at the age of 80 and ¾ years.
Sally was born February 3, 1943 in Phoenix, Arizona to widowed mother Eda E. Willard. Sally was blessed to be raised by a big family with ten siblings. After she finished her schooling, she met and married Raymond Leonard on February 2, 1963, a union which lasted for sixty plus years and produced three children and multitudes of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Sally worked in both the Egg Industry and Electronic Industry in her younger years.
Moving to Cape Town, South Africa in 1977 as a member of the mission team Cape Town 77, Sally adapted to her new country and circumstances with ease and stayed for forty years on the mission field. She filled a multitude of roles from Wife, mother, teacher, counselor, children's Bible school coordinator, fellowship organizer, transport driver, a shoulder to lean on and a source of strength for many. She became mother and grandmother to hundreds as she shared her love, knowledge and life. She was without question the ideal missionary wife, an indispensable part of our mission work. While Cerebella Ataxia greatly limited her activities, it could not dampen her spirit or her love for God and His people.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents, nine of her siblings, two grandchildren, James and Alan, and several nieces and nephews.
She is survived by Raymond, her husband of sixty plus years, son Chris and his wife Dora of Moran, daughter Peggy and her husband Richard of Oklahoma, son Ray and his wife Linda of Corona, California, multitudes of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; Sister Barbara Parades of Salinas, California; Sisters-in-law Barbara Carpenter of Mesa, Arizona and Karen Willard of Sun City, Arizona; Brothers-in-law John Leonard and his wife Cathy of Aumsville, Oregon and Gordon Smith of Mesa, Arizona.
