He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert E. Rushing and Meady Jewel Rushing (Laird); his son Robert V. Rushing Jr.; and his siblings, Lloyd Rushing, John Rushing, Ralph Rushing, Lorene Nix, Lucille Brown, Mavie Edwards, Margie McMahan and LaDean Reams.
He is survived by: his wife Joan Lasly; his children, Terry Rushing of Moody, Linda Sutton (Robert) of Scottsdale and Michelle Herrington (Lane) of Temple; and his sisters, Meady Sanders and Esther Kelley. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
