He was predeceased by: his wife Gladys; his parents, Raymond Chaney and Thelma Chaney; and his siblings, R. L. Chaney and Elizabeth Chapin.
He is survived by: his children, Jeannie Perkins of Spring, Texas and Rick Chaney of Brownsville, Texas; and his grandchildren, Sandra Van Alstine of Tomball, Jeff Sebastian of Sugarland, Anthony Sebastian, Amanda Ishee of Spring, Michael Chaney of Round Rock, Patrick and Spencer Chaney of Georgetown. He is also survived by 16 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
When Gladys was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, Lavon became her constant, loving caregiver.
