He was predeceased by: his parents, William Cecil Dowell and Erma Ona Porter (Dowell); his sisters, LaDean Lehmann (Dutch), Christell Brown (Monty) and Mary Ann Terry; his sister-in-law Lynda Dowell; and his niece Maggie Dowell.
He is survived by: his daughter Chambrey Chapman (Keith Roberts); his granddaughters, Za'Kierryah, Zhari and Zy'Eyre Chapman; his siblings, Billy Dowell (Willie), Ronny Dowell, Shirley Pennington of North Carolina and Neray Ragsdale (Michael) of St. Louis; and his brother-in-law Thomas "Buddy" Terry.
