He was predeceased by: his brothers, Ector Edward Vela and Mike Vela. He is survived by: his parents, Reyes Vela and Elisa Vela (Rios); his wife Teodora; his children, Connie Vela, Elisa Vela-Gonzalez (Rene), Rosemary Portillo, Jose Louis Villarreal (Sandra), Gilbert Villarreal (Adriana) and Michael Vela (Mysh); his grandchildren, Anthony, Marisa, Jasmine, Nicholas, Noah, Christopher, Joseph, Anecia, Orion, Caroline, Desy, Gilberto III, Cassandra, Miranda, Andrew, Raymond, Jordan, Isabella, Sebastian, Asia and Antonio; and his siblings, Joe, Roger, Robert, Bonnie, Jane and Rachel. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; as well as a host of good friends.
In accordance with current regulations, seating is limited, face coverings and social distancing is required.
